A series of Garda operartions in Dublin, Meath and Kildare has to led to six people being arrested and seziures of cocaine, ammunition and stolen high-powered vehicles.
Last night, a search was undertaken at a premises in Celbridge, Co Kildare where a quantity of cocaine and ammunition was discovered.
Gardaí estimate this seizure may have a street value of €3 million. Two people were arrested in this operation and are being detained at Naas Garda Station and Newbridge Garda Station under the provisions of Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act.
This morning, at approximately 9 am, two men in their 20s were intercepted at Botanic Road, Glasnevin in Dublin.
Both were arrested and are being detained at Santry and Whitehall Garda Stations under the provisions of Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act.
A follow-up search was carried out at a residence in Duleek, Co Meath at approximately 11 am, during which five stolen vehicles of high value were recovered. Indications at the scene suggest that the location was being used as a drug preparation operation.
A man and a woman, both in their 20s were arrested in this phase of the operation and are being detained at Coolock and Whitehall Garda Stations under the provisions of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act.
A further follow up search was conducted at a residence in Clonee, Co Meath, where a quantity of drugs, suspected to be cocaine was seized.
This seizure, gardaí say, may have a potential street value of up to €500,000. A man and a woman, both in their 20s were arrested and are currently being detained at Blanchardstown Garda Station under the provisions of Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act.
The operations were part of an investigation into organsiaed crime led by the National Bureau of Criminal Investigation. The operations over the past 24 hours were supported by other national units including the Organised Crime Unit, the Emergency Response Unit and local gardaí.
