The executive editor of the Irish Daily Mailand the Irish Mail on Sunday, Paul Drury, has announced he is stepping down from the post to take on a new role.
A statement said Mr Drury had "decided to step back from frontline journalism after 30 years".
Mr Drury (50) will take a month's sabbatical before returning to the group as managing editor , with responsibilities including liaising with the new Press Council, hiring staff, leader writing and "masterminding weekend features".
He is a former editor of the Evening Herald, the Irish Daily Starand Ireland on Sunday.
