Sub-titled Studies in Honour of Patrick Healy, this a festschrift in honour of an archaeologist best known for his involvement in the Wood Quay excavations in the 1970s. The greater part of this 290-page volume is about Dublin and its hinterland, while another section deals with medieval and post-medieval Ireland.
Conleth Manning has marshalled the 31 contributions in admirable style, with many illustrations, including our friend Gabriel Beranger (front cover and page 153, in colour, of Ballymount Castle, the remains of which can be seen from the M50 near its junction with the road from Dublin to Naas). The A4 format volume has been published in association with The Rathmichael Historical Society.
