More than 75 Dublin Bus workers picketed the offices of the Minister for Public Enterprise in protest at her plans to deregulate the transport industry.
The 45-minute demonstration was organised by SIPTU shop stewards but included National Bus and Rail Union (NBRU) members. A hand-delivered letter called on Mrs O'Rourke to address workers concerns about the future of their pension and medical schemes.
Concerns over asset stripping – selling off sites like the Donnybrook garage – were also raised. The protest was timed to allow drivers take part while on their morning break, so as not to cause any disruption of service.
A number of drivers are now campaigning for a work stoppage and a march to Dáil Eireann in early June.
