A prayer service for world peace will be held in Dublin this evening, one month after terrorist attacks in New York, Washington and Pennsylvania left more than 6,000 dead.

The Service of Prayer for World Peace, in St Patrick’s Cathedral in Dublin at 5.30 p.m., will be attended by members of the Christian, Muslim and Jewish communities.

The American Ambassador, Mr Richard Egan,; the Lord Mayor of Dublin, Mr Michael Mulcahy; the Auxiliary Bishop of Dublin, the Most Rev Eamonn Walsh; and the Papal Nuncio, Most Rev Giuseppe Lazzarotto, will attend. President Mrs Mary McAleese will be represented by her aide-de-camp.

The Jewish community will be represented by Estelle Menton and the Muslim community by Sheikh Hussein Halawa and Dr Nooh Al Kaddo.
