Dublin comedian Andrew Maxwell has been nominated for the prestigious If.Comedy award (formerly the Perrier award) at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
The Kilbarrack man has been impressing critics and sold-out audiences in a show that draws heavily on tales about Bertie Ahern, Sinn Féin community activists and his attitude to Cork people.
Maxwell, in his early 30s and based in London, is familiar to viewers as a regular panellist on RTÉ2's The Panelchat show. He is one of five nominees for the award which will be presented on Saturday night. Previous Irish winners of the award include Dylan Moran and Tommy Tiernan.
