The organisers of Dublins first culture night tonight were delighted with the evening as more than 40 leading arts centres remained open until 9pm.
Visitors joined the culture trail to take in a host of venues, including Farmleigh, Hugh Lane Gallery, Collins Barracks, Temple Bar Music Centre, and the National Museum of Ireland.
Admission was free, with many centres hosting guided tours and talks. A special Culture Bus was available to shuttle people around the city to the various venues.
The aim of the event was to encourage people who live in Dublin to enjoy and celebrate its culture.
Temple Bar Cultural Trust said the turnout was excellent and added that it plans to hold the celebration annually, following other major cities across Europe whose events attract thousands of people each year.
