The Jameson Dublin International Film Festival has announced its line-up for this year's event, with a host of celebrity guests and renowned directors expected to attend.

The festival is due to open on the 16th with Australian film Jindabyne, which lead actor Gabriel Byrne will attend. Ed Burns will be on hand to view this year's Midweek Gala, The Groomsmen.The festival runs until the 25th.

The programme, which was launched by Sundance award-winner John Carney at the Market Bar in Dublin this evening, will also include the film adaptation of Fast Food Nation, and Oscar-nominated Venus.

One of this year's more controversial films is documentary Deliver Us From Evil, which follows the story of paedophile priest Oliver O'Grady. Its writer/director Amy Berg will attend the film's screening.

Actor/director Sarah Polley will be present for the showing of her films Away From Hereand The Secret Life of Words, while the Thrills will also be attending the festival for the screening of their documentary.

Irish filmmakers are also getting in on the act; the makers of Once, Cre Na Cille, Small Engine Repairand WCare also due to attend.

The fifth year of the festival also marks the last year that current festival director and Irish Timeswriter Michael Dwyer will draw up the programme.

Rory Concannon, festival chief executive, said the film event had become a "major force" in Ireland's national cultural life.
