The stars of American Pie gathered in Dublin this evening for the premiere of the latest film in the hugely popular franchise and the actress who will be forever known as Stifler’s mom stole the show.

Jennifer Coolidge arrived at the premiere in the Savoy Cinema in O’Connell Street to a blizzard of photographic flash bulbs and screams from a crowd of teenagers who were mostly there for special guests Jedward.

Coolidge said the two minute cameo in the original American Pie in which she seduces the teenager Fitch changed her life

“I was like a waitress that got a job once in a while and then Stifler’s mom happened and everything changed,” she said.

“Whenever when I single, it keeps it all going. If I wasn’t an actress and I wasn’t Stifler’s mom, my life would be so dull.

Four members of the cast: Coolidge, Tara Reid (Vicky), Seann William Scott (Stifler), and Eugene Levy who plays the cringe-inducing father of the main character Jim were at tonight’s Irish premiere in the Savoy Cinema in O’Connell Street.

The writers-directors Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg also attended.

Jim’s Dad, who is now a widower, hooks up with Stifler’s Mom who had a memorable cameo as the seducer of the teenager Finch in the original American Pie.

“I got a chance to meet Stifler’s mom. If this is not the last American Pie, I’m very excited about the next one,” Levy said.

Levy said there was not a lot of actors got the change to be associated “with a movie or a franchise that is so successful and so much fun to do”.

The cast and crew are on a global promotional tour which sees the cast of the scatological comedy meet up for their High School reunion 13 years after the original film was launched to worldwide box office success.

Scott, who plays the cocksure Stifler in the film, was honoured at the Trinity College Dublin Philosophical Society this afternoon with a gold medal of honorary patronage. He attracted a full house to the Graduates' Memorial Building in the university.

American Reunion debuted at number 2 in the US box office last week. It goes on general release in Ireland on May 2nd.

It also features a song from up and coming Irish band Kopek called Bring It On Home.
