The latest figures, from Eurostat, the European Commission's statistical office show that the Dublin-London air route is the busiest between cities in the EU.
4.3 million passengers traveled on the route in 1999, 1.5 million more than the next busiest route, London-Paris which carried 2.8 million people.
Ireland-Britain is the third most popular route between EU countries.
All air routes between EU countries carried 184 million passengers in 1999, an average increase of 7.5%. Increases of over 10% were recorded in Ireland, Greece, Spain, and Sweden.
