A jury in the trial of two Dublin men accused of murder yesterday found one of the accused guilty of the murder of a 25-year-old Dublin man outside Cloverhill Prison.
The jury at the Central Criminal Court also found both accused guilty of threatening to kill Joseph O'Callaghan (25).
The jury were last night sent to a hotel and will resume their deliberations this morning on the remaining count of murder.
The jury of 10 men and two women deliberated for 10 hours and 56 minutes before returning two guilty verdicts on charges of murder and threatening to kill against Brian Kenny (36), of Finglas.
The jury also returned a guilty verdict on a charge of threatening to kill against Thomas Hinchon (25), of Clondalkin.
On Monday the jury, after deliberating for four hours and 45 minutes before retiring to a hotel overnight, delivered two further guilty verdicts against Kenny on charges of having a firearm and ammunition.
The jury will resume their deliberations this morning on the remaining count of murder against Hinchon after spending two nights in a hotel.
Both Kenny, Kilshane Cross, Finglas, Co Dublin, and Thomas Hinchon, St Ronan's Close, Clondalkin, denied the murder of Jonathan O'Reilly (25), St Mark's Gardens, Clondalkin, on April 17th, 2004.
Kenny and Hinchon also denied threatening to kill Joseph O'Callaghan on April 17th, 2004, at Finglas, Dublin.
Kenny pleaded not guilty to having a firearm, a Beretta single automatic shotgun, on May 10th, 2004, at Michelstown Cottage, Kilshane Cross, Dublin.
He also pleaded not guilty to possession of ammunition on the same date.
It is alleged by the State that the deceased man was shot outside Cloverhill Prison as he sat in a BMW car.
A motorcycle drew up beside the car and a number of shots were fired through the car glass and struck Jonathan O'Reilly, mortally wounding him, the State alleges.
