A man appeared in Dublin District Court yesterday charged in connection with the seizure of cocaine at a north inner city flat at the weekend.
Robert Harrison (36), North Clarence Street, Dublin, was charged with possession of the drug and possession with intent to supply at Dunne Street. Det Garda Mark Jordan, north central divisional drugs unit, told the court he arrested Mr Harrison at Store Street just after 6 p.m. on Saturday and detained him under the Drug Trafficking Act 1996.
His detention was later extended for two periods before he was charged. In reply to the two charges he said "nothing to say".
Gardai applied for him to be remanded in custody for a week when, his solicitor John Fitzgerald said, there would be an application for bail. Gardai also objected to free legal aid for Mr Harrison.
Judge Miriam Malone said this matter should be left until next week when bail will be dealt with.
She ordered a statement of Mr Harrison's means be supplied to gardai in advance of next week rather than on the day of the application.
She remanded him in custody to Cloverhill District Court on August 27th when the DPP's directions will be available.
Mr Harrison, spoke only to his solicitor during his brief appearance before the court.
