A Dublin man jailed for life for the murder of a woman at her home eight years ago has lost an appeal against his conviction in the Court of Criminal Appeal. Mark Lawlor, now 27, was convicted by a jury in 1995 of the murder of Ms Rose Farrelly (57) at her home at O'Hara Avenue, Harold's Cross, Dublin, on February 14th/15th, 1993.

Lawlor, of St Teresa's Gardens, was jailed for nine years for sexual assault on Ms Farrelly and burglary at the time. He was also convicted of stealing a wedding band from Ms Farrelly on the same dates.
