Refuse collection on the south side of Dublin city returns to normal this morning after workers agreed to end unofficial industrial action at a meeting yesterday.
About 100 refuse-collectors and van operators working from the Rathmines and Davitt Road depots agreed to end their work-to-rule after talks with union officials. Since last week they had been stopping work before collections were finished and returning to base for allotted breaks.
This resulted in delayed collections. In some areas rubbish was not collected at all last week.
SIPTU and IMPACT are to seek a meeting with Dublin Corporation in an attempt to resolve differences. These arise over payments due to cleansing workers after a reorganisation of refuse collections throughout the city.
