Dublin-to-Liverpool ferry to create 145 jobs

A new twice-daily express ferry service from Dublin to Liverpool was launched today.

A new twice-daily express ferry service from Dublin to Liverpool was launched today.

Up to 500 passengers and 80 vehicles will be accommodated on the route which has created 145 new jobs on both sides of the Irish Sea.

A catamaran has received a €1.62 million refurbishment to run to and from Dublin Port.

Irish Sea Express.com said the new service will be ideal for holidaymakers visiting Liverpool city itself or wishing to explore England's northwest by car.

Managing director Andy Boardman noted Liverpool is European Capital of Culture 2008 and said Irish people will also be attracted by the Tate and Beatles museums, high street shopping, two premiership football clubs and a buzzing nightlife.
