This year's Dún Laoghaire International Horse Show promises a purse of €12,000 for participants in what has become a traditional warm up for the Dublin Horse Show in the RDS.
The show has changed venue this year for the first time. It has moved from its usual location in the grounds of the National Rehabilitation Hospital, Pottery Road, Dún Laoghaire, to St Joseph's Centre in Shanganagh, Shankill, Co Dublin.
The Pottery Road grounds were sold for development and Dún Laoghaire Rathdown County Council provided the new site after show organisers had difficulty finding a suitable venue.
Now in its 15th year, the show will be held on August 1st, two days before the Horse Show in the RDS and will feature amateur and professional showjumpers.
The Grand Prix winner will pocket €8,000 and the winner of the DúLaoghaire Stakes will receive €3,000, with €1,000 offered for the leading overall rider of the day. Organised by a 12 member voluntary committee with 60 helpers, the event also features a carnival and floral display.
In the past the Dún Laoghaire show has attracted many well-known showjumpers including Cian O'Connor, Eddie Macken, Harvey Smith, Paul Darragh and Princess Hiya of Jordan.
