Dunfermline chairman John Yorkston has told the Irish Football Association that the club will not stand in the way of Jimmy Nicholl becoming the next Northern Ireland manager.
The IFA have targeted the Dunfermline assistant manager as a possible successor to Sammy McIlroy, who joined Stockport County earlier this season.
Ex-Wycombe Wanderers boss Lawrie Sanchez is also in the frame for the post with interviews expected to be held on Monday.
However, Nicholl is widely tipped to get the nod and Yorkston maintains the Scottish club will not be difficult to deal with over compensation.
He told the Belfast Telegraph: "I don't want to lose Jimmy because he has played a major part in the success at Dunfermline but I recognise that when your national side comes calling they are very hard to turn down.
"If Jimmy gets offered the job we would not put any unnecessary hurdles in his way. We will be as flexible as we can with the Irish FA."
