The Dunnes Stores Parkway Shopping Centre branch in Limerick is being staffed by management today as workers hold a one-day strike.
The workers are protesting an alleged failure by the company to deal with bullying and harassment concerns at the store.
The workers are also protesting changes in working hours and patterns.
According to the MANDATE union, about 240 Dunnes Stores staff are refusing to work. They established a picket at the store at 6.30 a.m. which will run until 9.30 p.m.
Mandate spokesman Mr Brian Higgins said customer numbers at the store today were "insignificant compared to a normal Friday".
Mr Higgins said today's action brought no response from management at the company.
"We will sit down and review the situation after today and we will see if further action is necessary, but we are hoping the management will assess the situation and help us resolve the issues," he told ireland.com.
