Newry and Armagh Assembly member Paul Berry remains suspended from the DUP pending investigation into reports concerning his private life made in a Sunday newspaper, the party said last night.
It is not known on what grounds the party has begun disciplinary proceedings.
Shortly before the May general election, the Sunday World reported that Mr Berry had met a male masseur at a Belfast hotel and that a sexual encounter had taken place. Mr Berry strongly denies the allegations and has threatened legal action.
In a statement Mr Berry said of his party's inquiry into the matter: "I am awaiting confirmation of a date for the committee to meet and when I am informed of the meeting I will be more than happy to attend. I am eager to have the matter resolved as quickly as possible."
