Dutch police arrested a man today suspected of throwing a hand grenade into a house and killing two people in the eastern Dutch city of Arnhem.
A man and woman were killed when the hand grenade exploded in the house yesterday evening. Three other people were wounded, one seriously.
Police arrested a 43-year-old man in the nearby village of Rhenen after taking statements from eyewitnesses. Police said a fight broke out at the house in a residential neighbourhood shortly before the explosion.
"We think we have the right man", police spokesman Mr Peter Meier told reporters.
The suspect has so far been charged with assault, although additional charges were expected. Police said it was not yet clear how he came to possess the grenade.
Police said the house was a known centre for drugs and that the two people killed, who have not yet been identified, were not residents there.
However, police said they had not yet determined if the attack was drug-related and could not confirm media reports that the suspect in custody was known on the drugs circuit.
