A DVD aimed at encouraging parents and guardians to think more about child safety has been unveiled by Minister of Health and Children Brian Lenihan today.

Each year in Ireland approximately 75 children die, 15,000 children are admitted to hospital and 150,000 children are seen in A&E departments as a result of unintentional injuries.

The HSE's National Injury Prevention Committee (NIPC) has produced the DVD Child safety inside and outside the Home — a guide for parents, guardians and childrento try and cut those figures.

The NIPC said:  "The objective is to give a greater awareness to parents and guardians on how making small but important changes to our 'thinking' can help make the necessary changes that will create a 'safer world' for our children."
