Early start to Thurles is advised

Dublin fans travelling to the 3 p.m

Dublin fans travelling to the 3 p.m. All-Ireland quarter-final replay against Kerry in Thurles today are advised to leave the city early as delays are expected. A GAA spokesman advised people to be on the road by 9 a.m. Tickets for the match were on sale at Croke Park all day yesterday with long queues forming, said a GAA spokesman.

Three special train services from Dublin, carrying 1,500 supporters, will run to Thurles today. All tickets have been sold and Iarnrod Eireann is advising fans it cannot guarantee they will be able to travel by train.

Regular services to Thurles do not have the capacity to deal with many extra passengers, said a spokesman. Tickets for the special trains from Kerry, as well as many of the regular services, have already sold out.

An AA Roadwatch spokesman said traffic would be bad from about 1 p.m. Gardai advised fans to use alternative routes to get to Semple Stadium.
