An earthquake with a magnitude of 6.5 on the Richter scale was reported in the Pacific off the east coast of Japan today.
There were no reports of damage or injuries, Japan'smeteorologial agency said.
The earthquake occurred off the island of Torishima, a small Pacific islet about 500 km (300 miles) south of Tokyo, the agency said.
The epicentre was estimated to be about 10 km (six miles) under the sea, the agency said.
