The Broadcasting Commission of Ireland (BCI) has awarded a new radio licence for an easy listening station aimed at listeners aged 45 and over.
The 10-year licence for broadcasting on the FM band was awarded to Choice Broadcasting FM, trading as 4FM.
The franchise area for the service is for Dublin city, county and commuter belt; Cork city and county; Galway city and county; Limerick city and county; and Co Clare.
The award is subject to negotiations that are expected to be completed in the coming months.
