Low-cost airline Easyjet said it carried 2.85 million passengers in April, up 16.8 per cent from a year earlier.
Easyjet said its load factor, a measure of how efficiently it is filling seats, was 86.4 per cent in the month against 85.2 per cent in April 2005.
On Thursday, rival Ryanair announced it had recorded its highest ever monthly passenger traffic in April by carrying 3.44 million passengers in what was a 29 per cent increase on 2005.
