3 cultures: A trilingual exhibition exploring our Celtic heritage will run from now until Saturday, February 21st, at the County Library in Tallaght, Co Dublin. The charts have been created by the children in three schools - Scoil Chaitlin Maude, Tallaght; Treyew County Primary School in Truro, Cornwall; and Ecole Achille Grandeau in Brittany, France. The exhibition, which is entitled Ar nOidhreacht Cheilteach, is the result of an EU Comenius-funded project. Except for Sunday, the library is open until 5pm every evening and on Tuesday and Thursay it's open until 8pm.
Reminder: For students thinking of studying at UCD after Leaving Cert, the university will hold two open days next month - on Tuesday and Wednesday, March 24th and 25th. All faculties and services will put on displays and talks and there will be special programmes for visiting students and teachers.
Lecture: Students in Transition Year and fifth year will be particularly welcome to the Tyndall Demonstration Lecture on The Unexpected in Physics in the RDS concert hall next Friday at 2.30pm. It aims to show that physics can be fun, that nature can behave unexpectedly and that humans can manipulate nature in surprising ways. Dr Paul Vlaanderen of the University of Amsterdam will conduct a number of experiments, "which are entertaining but also seem to involve an element of magic." No-uniform day: The deadline for National NonUniform Day in aid of the world's neediest children is getting nearer and nearer. On Friday, February 20th, students around the country will wear their everyday clothes to raise funds for children who are dying because of lack of immunisation, children who are being abused, children who are losing their childhood through trauma and child labour. The day is being organised by UNICEF. In exchange for wearing your glad-rags and/or your sad-rags, students will give a small donation to UNICEF at 4 St Andrew Street, Dublin 2. Schools which don't have a uniform may decide to hold a theme day instead or even have a fancy dress day!
