Some 10,000 recent and future graduates are expected at the annual AIESEC Graduate Careers Fair which will take place this Thursday in the UCD Sports Centre. The fair is organised by the international student business society in co-operation with The Irish Times, AIB and the Association of duate Careers Services in Ireland.

The Sports Hall on the Belfield Campus will be the venue for the fair, which will be attended by 89 Irish and international companies. (The fair will be open from 9.30 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. in halls A and B.)

It comes as the recruitment season kicks off in earnest for final-year students. The organisers say students from every college in the country are welcome to attend free of charge. Those attending will be provided with a brochure, giving them details of the companies attending the event. AIESEC, the student organisation organising the fair, is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year; it describes itself as "completely different from the more traditional student societies. There are no student marches, no soup kitchens, and no Karoake nights in the student bar". Instead, the organisation aims to develop its students "in challenging and powerful ways".
