CDVEC day: The seventh annual information day on Post Leaving Cert courses provided by the City of Dublin VEC will take place in the RDS, Dublin, today from 9.30 a.m. to 4 p.m. The CDVEC provides more than 350 PLC courses in 16 schools and colleges. The major areas covered by PLC courses in Dublin are secretarial, business studies and marketing, computer applications, art and design, catering and retail services, communications, health, community and childcare, technology and leisure and recreation management.

Art competition: Young artists may be interested in a competition organised by the National Gallery of Ireland in association with Bord Gais. Open to both primary and post-primary students, the theme is "Clean air keeps Ireland green". Students are invited to submit one work - a painting or drawing - in colour, A3 size. `Mature' evening: DCU is hosting its annual mature students' information evening on Wednesday, March 19th, from 6 p.m. to 8.30 p.m. Intending applicants will have an opportunity to discuss each degree programme, career options, financial issues and admission procedures with university personnel, academic staff and current mature students.
Open day: St Patrick's College, Drumcondra, Dublin, is holding an open day on March 13th for mature students interested in the BA in humanities. There will be presentations at 3.30 p.m., 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. and college tours at 4 p.m., 5.30 p.m. and 7 p.m. Staff members and current mature students will be present to answer questions.
