If you left college in 1998 with a degree in arts or social science, the most likely destination was another college. Almost half of all arts/social science graduates were engaged in education, research or training on April 30th, 1999. One in 10 was in teacher training.
The workplace attracted some 44 per cent of graduates, while 2.4 per cent were seeking employment. Of those who were working in Ireland, some 60 per cent were employed in private services, with 29 per cent in the public service and 10 per cent in manufacturing and other non-service industries. As for salaries, 43 per cent were earning in the region of £9,000 to £14,999 with 3.1 per cent earning more than £19,000 and 5.0 per cent earning less than £5,000.
