A survey of 583 schools by the Association of Secondary Teachers of Ireland has shown that a lack of computer equipment is the main barrier to using the Internet as a teaching and learning tool at second level. The survey indicated that 57 per cent of teachers use the Internet for class preparation - 15 per cent on a regular basis and 42 per cent occasionally. Only 5 per cent, however, regularly use the Internet as a teaching resource during class time and 27 per cent do so occasionally. Publication of the survey coincided with the launch of the ASTI website, which can be found at www.asti.ie
