USI has welcomed the addition of a learner's representative on the National Qualifications Authority.
The measure is included in the new Qualifications Bill, which is passing through the Oireachtas. Education officer Darren McCallig said he was "delighted" that the Minister for Education had "listened and responded to our concerns" on the Bill, including its reform of certification for the non-university sector of higher education and vocational training. USI looks forward to "playing a central role in the new arrangements", he said.
