Respect, the charity that works with people with intellectual disabilities, has launched a "school enrichment programme" aimed at reaching second-level students in the wider community.
Development officer Liam Walsh said Respect is piloting the programme with neighbouring Castleknock College and St Dominic's College. "It has three main aims: to create awareness among students; to establish an educational forum - we hope to have a symposium for debate and discussion on disability issues - and to ask the schools to organise fundraising." Respect director Sister Margaret Hegarty welcomed a group of students from the schools, who looked forward to the opportunity "to challenge 'disrespect'".
