The National Gallery of Ireland runs a busy programme of autumn talks which may be of interest to teachers of Leaving Certificate students and the general public. All lectures take place in the gallery lecture theatre; all are welcome and admission is free. On Sunday, October 21st at 3 p.m. there will be a lecture by Hilary Pyle on artist Anne Yeats who died this summer. On Tuesday, October 23rd, there will be a lecture entitled "The Victorian Gaol: Exploring the complex personality of Patrick Pearse", by Pat Cooke at 10.30 a.m. On October 25th at 7 p.m. lecturers Dr Brendan Rooney and Dr Nicola Figgis will attempt to shed some New Light on Early Irish Painting while those interested in the future direction of the gallery may like to attend a talk by its director, Raymond Keaveney, on Tuesday, October 30th at 10.30 a.m. called "Future Plans of the National Gallery of Ireland". The Gallery also runs a schools lecture series each Thursday at 5 p.m. until October 25th and admission is free.
