The third edition of the Child and Family Directory from the National Children's Resource Centre is now available. Aimed at child care workers, social workers, other professionals and parents, the directory is a guide to the national organisations and services concerned with children and their families in Ireland.
The book is divided up into categories such as "adoption", "benefits" and "grandparents". The categories are listed in easy access alphabetical order, and a list of relevant organisations, including addresses and telephone numbers, is given.
There is an extraordinarily diverse range of organisations, covering health-related issues, childcare, marital breakdown, parenting, bereavement, alcoholism and drugs, and many other areas.
This is one of those handy "quick flick" guides, invaluable for anyone involved, in any capacity, with children.
The Child and Family Directory is available from the National Children's Resource Centre, Barnardo's, Christchurch Square, Dublin 8 (tel: (01) 454 9699). It costs £6.
