Know the examination schedule and ensure that your son or daughter is always in the examination centre on good time for each examination.
Ensure that there is as much calm as possible, in your home over the next two weeks. Your son or daughter need to renew their batteries very quickly after each day's examination papers.
Be a listener and avoid postmortems on examination papers already completed. They achieve nothing, other than to create frustration regarding what they should have written.
Your son/daughter should be allowed and encouraged to tell you the story of their day. This will help them move on to the following day's examination
Simple questions such as, what is up next, are there any compulsory sections, are there any predictable questions that are intrinsic to the structure of the paper in question can be very useful in helping students to refocus on the evening's study ahead.
Without being overbearing, you can ensure that your son/daughter maintains a proper balance between study and rest. Remember that what has proved most effective is a three/four hour study session, in which notes on examinations questions are reviewed, followed by an hour's break. It is often better to finish studying before 11pm and spend an hour in the early morning reviewing the coming day's papers, than to study late into the night.
