Children from the Limerick School Project gathered at Limerick's City Hall last Wednesday to celebrate the opening of the annual Open EV+A (Exhibition of Visual Art).
Celebrating its 25th year, the prestigious art exhibition, has included a "Young EV+A" programme years which gives young artists a chance to take part in an intensive series of weekend workshops - eight hours per weekend for 10 weeks, working alongside established contemporary artists. These workshops take place within the space devoted to the permanent collection of the Limerick City Gallery of Art.
The long series of weekend workshops represent a significant commitment from young artists-to-be, who normally would hope to augment their incomes with part-time work. The young artists also have an exhibition of their work-in-progress in the Belltable Arts Centre.
