Where did you go to school? Belgrave National School Clontarf, Dublin, Scoil Rís, Griffith Avenue and Plunketts, Whitehall.
What was your best subject? Architectural drawing and woodwork.
What was your worst subject? History and geography - I'm fascinated by those subjects now.
If you were choosing subjects for Leaving Cert today, what would you choose? I would not change my subjects but I would pay more attention in geography. When I was travelling the world with Boyzone I didn't know where I was half the time and I'm disgusted with myself now. I'm always looking at atlases and trying to retrace my steps.
Who was your favourite teacher and why? Mr Daly, Mr Moran and Mr Quinliven - one from each school! They were all great teachers.
Who was your childhood idol? Johnny Depp (from his 21 Jump Street days)
Who was your best friend? Vivien O'Doherty.
What is he doing now? He's a sculptor in Italy, I think.
What sport did you play? Football.
What TV programme/film most reminds you of your school days? The Breakfast Club.
What song most reminds you of your school days? Black Betty.
What food most reminds you of your school days? Custard creams
What's the boldest thing you ever did in school? I set off a stink bomb during our Confirmation. preparation class with the parish priest. We were all let out early. I got a lot of cred for that but I also got a week's suspension.
Who did you bring to your debs? I didn't go to mine but I got invited to about eight others.
What was your most memorable holiday? Trobolgan in Cork aged 14. I fell in love there
Would you send your own children to the same school that you went to? Absolutely.
What was the best thing about your education? I never needed any of it!
What was the worst thing about your education? I was not very popular in Ard Scoil Rís and got a bit of a complex about it. It all got better when I went to Plunketts.
