TRALEE RTC proved too much for their RTC counterparts in Sligo last week as the first round of Challenging Times, the IrishTimes / RTE TV quiz for third-level colleges, came to an end.
Thirty points separated the teams at the end, leaving Sligo to join Waterford and Cork as the RTC representatives in the quarter-finals.
Sligo was represented by Gregory Kelly, Liam Rabbitte, Jonathan O'Brien and sub Killian Glynn. Tralee was represented by Victor Hayes, Steven Jones, Ciaran Murphy and John Healy.
The quarter-finals kick off tonight as UCC (twice winners in the past) face TCD (er, not winners at all, ever).
They will be followed over the rest of this month by DCU v the Garda College, Cork RTC v Tralee RTC, and UL v Waterford RTC.
Challenging Times can be seen every Tuesday evening at 8.30 pm. on RTE 1 and is repeated on Fridays on RTE 1 at 11 a.m., so you can watch it while missing that nasty economics lecture.
The question-master is, as ever, the greying man's role model, Kevin Myers.
