An Nuig graduate has been awarded a £5,000 grant for specialist studies from a trust fund administered by A&L Goodbody solicitors. Miriam Horgan from Salthill in Galway will use the grant to fund her studies in health and medical law.

She is the first Irish student to be admitted to the LLM programme at the University of Pittsburgh and has also been awarded a scholarship by the Alcoa Foundation in the city. Marcus Beresford, chairman of A&L Goodbody, said Hogan was "an outstanding student with a very bright future".

The Rodney Overend Trust Fund is funded by the partners of the firm and a scholarship is awarded from the fund each year. This year, an additional grant of £1,000 was made to Estelle Feldman, a doctoral student at TCD, whose topic is "Legal Aspects of Whistleblowing".
