www.destressu.com

Founded last June with this ungainly name, DeStressU.com (a sure sign that the world is running out of dot.com names) is Ireland's first portal site for the holistic-health industry. Its creation was, it says, in "direct response to the nation's growing thirst for information and guidance on the area of complementary medicine." If natural healing, nutrition and supplements are what you are interested in, this site will probably have the information you require.

There are many plusses and minuses about zoos, but this is not the place to get into that argument. Dublin Zoo is a magical place for children, and may be just the thing for adults that need to get away from it all for a day. A visit to this site should whet your appetite. The sections on the history of the zoo and the role of the modern zoo are very good, and the pictures of lions, polar bears, gorillas etc will be reason enough for many to bookmark this site.

www.fii.ie

The Film Institute of Ireland's mission statement says it "preserves, presents and promotes film culture in Ireland".

The section on its background is interesting. Many people will be surprised to find out that it was established in 1943 by the Archbishop of Dublin, John Charles McQuaid. The main reason a lot of people will visit, though, is to see what is currently showing in the IFC cinemas. A good site, even if the news section is very out of date.

www.cmc.ie

The Contemporary Music Centre in Fishamble Street, Dublin, adjacent to the site of the first performance of Handel's Messiah in 1742, is Ireland's national archive and resource centre for new music, supporting the work of composers throughout Ireland, North and South. The site is an excellent source for research on Irish composers, living and dead, and there is also a CD shop - though you have to print off and fax or post the order form.

www.comhaltas.com

Founded in 1951 with the aim of promoting traditional music and organising an annual festival of Irish music, song and dance, Comhaltas now also has a very good website. The depth of detail included is admirable and, very importantly, the news section is bang up to date. The Seisiun pages are great: you can listen to some tunes, watch the musicians and dancers perform and even learn some new music. The list of live sessions will attract many visitors.
