It's that nail-biting time again for Junior Cert teachers and their young students. Results of the Junior Cert exam will be in the schools today. Up to 68,000 students sat the exam earlier this year. On the re-checks question, there is a system in place for those students who are concerned that a mistake has been made in the correction of their papers. The latest date for receipt of applications for re-checks is Tuesday, September 30th. The results of these re-checks will be delivered to schools on Friday, November 7th.
In the very first year of the Inter Cert back in 1935, a grand total of 5,803 sat the exam. Almost 60 years later - the Junior Cert was introduced in 1992 - over 63,000 students sat the exam.
