Young people have "high levels of contact" with harassment, abuse and violence, according to a new survey commissioned by Women's Aid and carried out in five Dublin schools last year. The report stresses the need to encourage young people to tell what is happening in their lives and also to provide intervention services that will protect and impact positively on them.
Findings show that young people are unclear about definitions of rape, assault and harassment; that young men and women have differing views about how to say "yes" and "no" to sex; and that students had high levels of exposure to pornography, with almost all young men using pornography.
