UCD Quinn School of Business has teamed up with major companies such as L'Oreal, Microsoft and Universal Music to introduce secondary school students to the world of business. National Adult Literacy Awareness Week is currently being celebrated Statewide. The aim of the week is to raise awareness of the literacy issue in Ireland and inform individuals about the benefits of brushing up on their reading, writing and maths skills.

National Centre for Plurilingualism at NUI Maynooth

The Language Centre of NUI Maynooth is launching Belra - National Centre for Plurilingualism on Thursday, September 25th, at 3pm in the Biosciences Building, North Campus. Belra is a web-based project which aims to support schools and teachers by providing small-scale translation services, advice and discussion forums. All are welcome. Annual Conference for Teachers of Physics at UCD

This year's Institute of Physics teachers' conference takes place on Saturday, September 27th at UCD, Belfield, Dublin. This year talks include such topics as the the Antikythera Mechanism, the LHC at CERN and the new physics syllabus. There will be lots of resources and teaching ideas. Your School and The Law - One-day Legal Seminars

David Ruddy, BL and principal of Bawnogue SNS, Tallaght, co Dublin, in conjunction with IPPN, will facilitate a new series of one-day legal seminars on "Your School and the Law". These will take place in Cork (November 15th) and Galway (November 29th), Dublin (March 21st) and Sligo (March 28th).

The seminar will address: the code of behaviour, enrolment policy, procedures and appeals, health, safety and welfare, child protection, employment, recruitment and contracts, sexual harassment and bullying, duty of care, parental access and supervision, managing complaints and conflict.
