Lunchtime Lecture in the Hunt Museum Limerick:"Catherine Hayes, Ireland's Greatest Superstar" is the title of a lunchtime lecture which will be held today at 1pm in the Hunt Museum. Denis Leonard, chairman of Limerick Civic Trust, will deliver this lecture on this young woman who was born in Limerick at 4 Patrick Street on 25 October, 1818.

Hayes travelled the globe during the 19th century, singing opera and songs with great passion and success. Admission is free and all are welcome.

The National Maritime College of Ireland Careers Talks

The National Maritime College of Ireland (NMCI) is holding sessions on marine careers and training today and tommorrow at the National Maritime College in Ringaskiddy, Co Cork. It is primarily aimed at Transition Year students who may be considering a career in the maritime sector. The event will bring together shipping companies, ports and marine organisations from around the world to provide presentations of their work and marine involvement. Students will be able to see the types of training involved with maritime careers and the training facilities that are to be found at the college.

UCD Quinn School of Business "Business of . . ." Speaker Series

Leaders from the worlds of fashion, magazines, sport and radio are contributing to the "Business of. . ." series of lectures at UCD Quinn School of Business, which run until February 2008. At UCD, Belfield, Dublin 4, on Thursday, November 22nd, 2007, 6.30-8pm.

The next talk is on "The Business of Magazines" and will be delivered by Norah Casey, chief executive officer of Harmonia, publishers of Irish Tatler, Woman's Way, U and Food & Wine magazine from 6.30pm to 8pm on Thursday, 22nd November at UCD, Belfield.

RDS Science Live Series

The RDS Science Live series take place in the RDS Concert Hall, Ballsbridge until November 19th. The 2007 series, which is designed to devise interesting ways of bringing science to life, includes hands-on, fun-filled demonstration lectures for primary and secondary school students and their teachers. Graduate entry to primary teaching

There will be a two-day course for those interested in graduate entry to primary teaching in Mullingar, Co Westmeath on Sunday, December 2nd and Sunday, December 9th. This will include interview technique preparation for the Irish oral and English interview. A comprehensive seminar booklet and CD will be provided in addition to a mock interview for each person. Postgraduate Diploma in Cultural Event Management

The Institute of Art, Design and Technology, Dún Laoghaire is now accepting applications for a one-year Hetac-accredited programme in Cultural Event Management starting in January 2008. Classes will be held on Fridays and Saturdays to facilitate those working in the sector. Key subjects include event management, marketing communications, law, finance and strategic management.
