For younger readers, Bi Gnothach, a 12-unit resource pack, has just been launched for use with fifth and sixth class. It's hoped that the pack, developed by the Curriculum Development Unit of Mary Immaculate College, Limerick, will help young students to acquire and develop certain skills while exploring the nature of business. Its goal, says Beth Hickey, project co-ordinator, is "to explore, through the medium of enterprise, skills which will help to enhance the full development of the children into adulthood, socially, emotionally and cognitively, with a large concentration on the development of self-esteem of the children who will take part." The project is produced in association with county and city enterprise boards throughout the country. It's available to schools free of charge.
