Do you want to be more actively involved in your primary children's education and provide support and assistance to other parents? Your day has come. The National Parents Council (Primary) is keen to talk to parents who are interested in working as volunteers on its daily helpline.
The helpline is a service for parents of primary-school children which provides support, encouragement and information on children's education.
In return for a commitment of three hours a week, for a minimum of one year, the NPC
provides training, support and development opportunities for its volunteers. The training programme covers areas such as active listening and child development.
This 10-week course begins on October 10th and is held on Tuesdays between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.
All applicants are interviewed. The interviews will take place today and tomorrow, as well as on Tuesday, September 30th and Thursday, October 2nd. For further information contact Aoife Geraghty (tel: (01) 678 9980).
