There are 1,300 chartered physiotherapists registered with the Irish Society for Chartered Physiotherapists (ISCP) the regulatory body for the profession.
Of these,
8 per cent are male
92 per cent are female.
Some 49 per cent work exclusively in the public sector,
22 per cent
work in both the public and private sectors,
27 per cent
work exclusively in the private sector and
2 per cent
work occasionally in the private sector.
Chartered Physiotherapists in the public health service earn £19,000 to £25,000 in their first three years. They can then apply for a senior grade at between £25,000 and £30,000. Managers earn £30,000 to £35,000.
