Opportunity Knocks: by the Irish Centre for Talented Youth (CTYI). Based in DCU, the centre is looking for second-level students who have exceptional verbal and/ or mathematical reasoning abilities and are between the ages of 12 and 16. In the past six years, several thousand students have taken part in the search by sitting an aptitude test. Those who score highly are offered places on a range of academic programmes run by the CTYI during the summer. Last year nearly 800 took part and some 400 students attended the course at DCU. A number of scholarships are made available to students on the basis of their test scores. For information, contact the CTYI at fax number (01) 704 5693.
