Some comments from skoool.ie visitors - in their own words - on the exam story so far . . .

"Higher maths was not that bad, if you worked really hard for the whole two years." - Felicia

"JC H Irish aural was horrible. I felt like standing up and smashing the stereo listening to all that Ulster Irish, did well in the rest though!" - Fiachra

"Agreed about ridiculous Donegal dialect for aural. Paper one in LCH Irish was mixed, very manageable debate on Ireland, but as for comprehension, I thought I got the wrong paper and was doing Arabic instead." - Patrick

"Does anyone know what a reciprocal is (maths

higher paper 1)?" - Colin

"I am in shock after LC maths paper 1 higher. I thought the papers were meant to get easier over the years, instead we find the most awkward paper I have ever seen. This paper will really deter people from taking higher maths. The examiner should be FIRED." - Paul

"A reciprocal? - that word ain't even in our feckin' maths book!" - Kilkenny cailín

"I Felt a Funeral in my Brain" - papa smurf

"Higher maths paper 1 was an unmitigated fiasco! The paper was disgracefully difficult. Shame on the commission for setting such an uncharacteristically difficult paper." - JP

"Does anyone know how to go about getting a complaint heard by the right people?" - shell

"The maths Leaving Cert ordinary level was brutal, a lot of people nearly left crying. I've been getting grinds all year and it was a total waste of my money. I was well prepared but the Qs were just worded so badly, come on people it's not on since maths is such an important subject we've gotta try to do summit about this." - Shelly

"LC maths higher was extremely alphabetical . . . where were the numbers? Hard paper." - Stray sheep

"I am so disappointed, I was hoping to do medicine but haven't a hope of getting the points now after those first three exams. English higher level paper 1 was too confining and at times ridiculous, while paper 2 was overtly misleading. Maths higher paper 1 was a complete joke, I couldn't do half of it, even after getting an A in the mocks. Higher level Irish paper 1 had good and bad parts but was mostly manageable. The Irish listening test was a total disaster, far more difficult than previously, I could only answer about three-quarters of the exam in the short time given." - Nightmare exam

"The amount of money spent on maths grinds is wasted because the LC maths p1 was the most backwards exam I've ever seen. I dread to see what they are gonna do to linear programming. Wouldn't you like to know?

"Oh my goodness, what with higher maths paper one for the LC goodbye any chances of getting an A1. I worked out the amount of marks I lost, and the highest I can get now is a B1. Goodbye, college course." - Angry

"Leaving Cert maths paper 1: loads of people came out crying. Who the hell sets these ridiculous papers?" - Audrey

"Okay, I just finished LC higher English and I must say I'm utterly disappointed. It was a great paper but I honestly feel that what I wrote today didn't do me any justice, considering the work I've put in over the past five years. Vote Continuous Assessment No 1!" - Leinster lass

"I thought the LC higher English papers were just great, no little twists or tricks. Thank you Department. Now if you could just exempt me from Irish . . ." - Cath

"What do you guys make of the School Bus essay? Bad taste I reckon." - Emma
