A special pack for teachers who plan lessons on cultural diversity and the dangers of racism will be sent to schools in the next month. The pack, for both primary and post-primary teachers, will include details about an award scheme for schools and youth clubs who take part in the European Year Against Racism. The year is to be marked in schools on Thursday, October 23rd, a specially designated day.
A programme of events to commemorate the year is being organised by the National Co-ordinating Committee for European Year Against Racism, based at the Department of Justice, Equality and Law Reform.
